Mm-hmm.
Tim GrayHOST
24:30
Who finished second at the 1991 San Marino Grand Prix? Honda-related, did you say? Yes.
Tim GrayHOST
24:42
Because he was in a McLaren Honda.
John HindhaughHOST
24:43
Oh, was he? Um...
AndyHOST
2:32
Uh, I mean, here's the thing, though, though.
AndyHOST
2:35
Is this any different from when you used to have the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola? 'Cause that's not technically in San Marino.
EltonHOST
2:43
Can I, can I, uh, let you into a little secret?
AndyHOST
2:47
Yeah, yeah, yeah, sure.
EltonHOST
3:04
Mm-hmm
AndyHOST
3:04
... it's a, it's, it's a l- little state inside of Italy.
AndyHOST
3:08
Um, but, uh, but yeah, uh, they used to do the Imola Grand Prix or, uh, the, the San Marino Grand Prix used to be run at the Imola circuit-
EltonHOST
3:15
Yeah
EltonHOST
2:27
Why can't we have the Monaco Grand Prix in Malaysia next year?
AndyHOST
2:32
Uh, I mean, here's the thing, though, is this any different from when you used to have the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola? 'Cause that's not technically in San Marino.
EltonHOST
2:43
Can I, can I, uh, let you into a little secret?
AndyHOST
2:47
Yeah, yeah, yeah, sure.
EltonHOST
3:04
Mm-hmm
AndyHOST

... it's a, it's, it's a l- little state inside of Italy.
AndyHOST
3:08
Um, but, uh, but yeah, uh, they used to do the Imola Grand Prix, or, uh, the, the San Marino Grand Prix used to be run out of Imola Circuit-
EltonHOST
3:15
Yeah
Jim MoraHOST
7:48
You aren't there.
Jim MoraHOST
7:49
It's just before the San Marino Grand Prix in which he died.
Jim MoraHOST
7:52
He tells Georgie not to worry about you, that you'd be all right.
Jim MoraHOST
7:56
And then he's gone.
Jonathan SimonHOST
4:26
So we're assuming we'll be in...
Jonathan SimonHOST
4:28
I was going to say San Marino, but Imola is the perfect example of a Grand Prix which was named the San Marino Grand Prix, yet Imola's in Italy.
Jonathan SimonHOST
4:36
So there's one example that this isn't the first time we've had...
Jonathan SimonHOST
4:40
the wrong name for a Grand Prix the best way to think about it is like Matt Bahrain Grand Prix is just the name doesn't mean it has to be in Bahrain like you could have the missed Apex Grand Prix and we could hold it in I don't know New York City perhaps right in your backyard Matt and you were allowed to do that because it's just the name it's like the Super Bowl it's just a name it could be held anywhere
JamieHOST
2:13
Um, I know that no one kicked off when it was the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix because it was a bit of a special season.
MattHOST
2:17
Well, I'm just thinking that you've had the San Marino Grand Prix for years.
JamieHOST
2:21
Yeah, which was about, what? 100 miles.
MattHOST
2:22
Luxembourg as well.
Kunal ShahHOST
31:38
Four times this has happened.
Kunal ShahHOST
31:39
San Marino Grand Prix was unable to be staged in the Republic of San Marino because of narrow roads.
Kunal ShahHOST
31:45
So it was hosted by Imola.
Kunal ShahHOST
31:48
And it was hosted there for 26 editions.
Kunal ShahHOST
31:52
That's why it was San Marino Grand Prix in Imola.
Kunal ShahHOST
31:55
Then the Swiss Grand Prix was held in France at Dijon.
Soumil AroraHOST
32:01
Yes.
LukeHOST
52:33
Yeah.
LukeHOST
52:33
Um, the other time that different countries have held the other country's GP, uh, not including the COVID years, I had a look i- into it, and the San Marino Grand Prix was at, uh, Italy's Imola from '81 to 2006.
CaesarHOST
52:49
Yeah.
LukeHOST
52:49
The Swiss, the Swiss Grand Prix was, uh, done in Dijon-Perrigneys, uh, in France, 1982, 'cause Swiss had banned motor racing after that, um, uh, really big crash.
KathrynHOST
6:54
Obviously, with Formula 2, their season finale is also the F1 season finale in...
KathrynHOST
7:00
Abu Dhabi question mark maybe Imla we don't know yet so that I think Haas is going to wait until after that wraps up to actually make all of those decisions but moving on to the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia this is the fourth different country to host an F1 circuit in the history of the sport what was really interesting is the other three times one of which is the San Marino Grand Prix which was basically never actually held in San Marino.
KathrynHOST
7:26
It was held in Italy from 1981 to 2006.
KathrynHOST
7:30
So that's a super sub of a, they just moved and kept the name.
Edd StrawHOST
1:56
I know we've had a few cases, your Luxembourg Grand Prix, when the Swiss Grand Prix was at Dijon.
Edd StrawHOST
2:02
Imola of course San Marino Grand Prix but they were pretty close so this is stretching a point we know why it's happening it's because Bahrain can't host the Grand Prix in Bahrain so they're still basically putting it on so I think for the wider world it's a little bit odd because it should be dictated by where you are but to be fair we were at the track today and they're certainly trying to give it a proper Bahrain vibe aren't they?
Jon NobleGUEST
2:26
Yeah, I was sceptical about all the naming and I can understand things like the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola in Italy made total sense and the Swiss Grand Prix at Dijon and why the Nürburgring had its various races.
Jon NobleGUEST
2:39
But this just seemed like a... almost illogical to have a race so far apart to have the name, even though we understood the reasons.
Jon NobleGUEST
2:47
But having been there today and having in this build-up to the race debating, is it going to feel like the Malaysian Grand Prix but have a different name? Are we going to kind of be force-fed that you need to call this the Bahrain Grand Prix and all that sort of constant messaging? But having gone there, it actually feels like the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia that we've bumped into before.
