Kemper's crimes were deemed incomprehensible for a 15-year-old to commit, and court psychiatrists diagnosed him with paranoid schizophrenia.

He was sent to the Atascadero State Hospital, a maximum security facility in San Luis Obispo County that houses mentally ill convicts.

I live in Atascadero.

And we, along with one other indivisible group, Indivisible North SLO County, are responsible for all of the actions that happen in the north part of the county.

What kind of actions? How do you explain the group?

Because it's the very first one and was run by one person for a long period, John Lamb, it has less of a group with common meetings as the other group in the North has.

And instead, we published an activist newsletter.

It's called Boots on the Ground.

It comes out every Tuesday, and it's a list of all of the local events that are happening and some national and state ones that will affect us here in SLO County.

After Behringer acquired the brand in 1988, Meridian Vineyards in Paso became one of those early wineries helping introduce a much bigger audience to what was happening here in SoCal.

Later, Chuck and his son Matt operated Ortman Family Vineyards, and in 1999, Chuck was named San Luis Obispo County Winemaker of the Year.

There are people who arrive after a wine region has already figured out who it is, and then there are people who help figure it out.

Chuck Ortman was part of that earlier chapter, no doubt.

They have their own thing in California, the California Public Records Request.

I filed a bunch of these, one with the Atascadero Police Department, one with the Paso Robles PD, and one with the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office and the Coast Crime Lab, the Coast Cyber Forensics Laboratory, the digital forensics arm that operates under the DA's authority.

This lab has particular importance to our story, as you've probably heard me discuss in the past.

Paso detectives had specifically consulted during their investigation with this unit into Rachel's wiped iCloud account and her phone and the text messages and all of that.

But given the podcast and given my background, I thought, well, I'm, you know, I will look forward to that conversation.

Now, there's something you need to know about Dan Dow.

His wife, Wendy, has a connection to the San Luis Obispo County Airport, the same airport where Rachel Neville was working at the time.

The same airport where she claimed to co-workers that she was a helicopter pilot and a trauma nurse for Mercy Air.

A fighter jet going down in the Pacific Ocean off the Central Coast and the pilot has been rescued.

This happened just before 7 last night, about six miles northwest of Morro Bay in San Luis Obispo County.

Now the pilot radioed Mayday Mayday before they'd lost engine thrust for reporting that air traffic control tried to direct them to the nearest airport, but they were forced to land in the water here.

Now this is the type of aircraft involved.

We're based here in Santa Barbara, and we represent other nonprofit organizations.

Our focus is really on defending nature and advancing environmental justice, and our work covers the Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo county areas.

Um, after Doug's portion of the presentation, I plan to address some recent federal threats to the California coastline and the role of the Coastal Zone Management Act in responding to those threats.
