It is a filing cabinet.

In a former high school in the capital, the regime ran the interrogation centre known by its code S21, and it processed something in the range of 15,000 people, of whom only a tiny handful walked out alive.

What makes it different from other atrocity sites is the paperwork.

Every prisoner was photographed on arrival, front-facing, numbered, with the same institutional framing you would find in a passport office.
