And I cannot wait to see what this Bears defense does because Ben Johnson, through his actions and also the, some of the moves the teams, the team made in the draft in terms of bringing in Sam Roush at tight end and, and some of the personnels that they already activated last year and will continue to do, plus some this year, the second year ascension of Colston Loveland, who already looked like one of the best tight ends in football last year.

You know, having guys who can really get the after the catch yards, Luther Burden.

Sam Roush is going to be on the field.

He's going to be on special teams.

He's third tight end.

He's going to play a lot.

Derm Smythe played a quarter of the snaps last year.

... where Ben Johnson has Cole Kmet and Colston Loveland and Sam Roush all out there together, and it creates this unpredictability.

The Bears were top five in the league in doing that last year, and that is a trend that is growing in the NFL, and I'm sure growing in Ben Johnson's mind based on the moves they made.

Not only did he come in and draft Col- and push to draft Colston Loveland in year one, but they kept Cole Kmet at a time when they could've easily not.

But where they had their biggest problems last year, and Clay, you'll appreciate this, was the tight end position.

They gave up the sixth most yards to tight ends last season, which you would think would play directly into the strengths of what the Bears are doing with the addition of Sam Roush, obviously the veteran leadership of commit.

And then the fact that Colston Loveland with a relatively slow first half turned into your leading receiver by the end of the season.

So he had a monster second half.

uh that you would think that would play right in the hands of the bears carolina rebuilt its linebacking core as we mentioned earlier they bring in jalen phillips who i think is a rock solid pass rusher who's had some injuries in his career and has bounced around a little bit the last few seasons he was really solid in miami when i covered him there and and ruthie you remember covering jalen and obviously he's a great dude you've felt for him when he when he when he hurt his knee I think he's got a lot of promise in this defense and the biggest addition I think is Devin Lloyd a ball hawk at linebacker veteran guy who's been around now five interceptions last season at a 99 yard pick six like this guy's a really good ball hawk from the linebacker position and that's an area of the field that caleb williams needs to be better in we talked about the 58 completion rate and ben johnson wants that at 70 and i think if he's up in the high 60s like two out of every three that you know two out of out of every three is a great position to be in so 67 is what you're gunning for i think for Caleb, a lot of that completion rate goes up in the middle of the field on short and intermediate stuff, oftentimes to the Lovelands, the Komets, and potentially the Sam Roushes of the world.

That's a matchup that you have to be really careful with.

I think Devin Lloyd has this ability to kind of suck you in and maybe lull you to sleep a little bit as a quarterback.

Phil, Phil Thompson wrote up, like, an intensive, excellent, you know, accounting of the Carolina trade from March of 2023, and obviously we know that Caleb Williams and Tyrique Stevenson and Darnell Wright are part of that haul.
