[laughs]
3:43
...
3:44
Scott.
3:44
Um, you know, if we look at the literature, the largest study ever done on antidepressant medications, the STAR*D study, had, uh, well over 2,000 participants, and they looked at all of the, the panoply of different selective serotonin react- uptake inhibitors, as well as some other antidepressants, and what they found was something really astonishing.
4:03
It's that on their very best day, a, an antidepressant medication has about a 37% chance of doing anything but giving you side effects.
4:13
So 37% chance that n- you know, it'll work at all.
4:18
Um, and a litany of side effects include sexual dysfunction, um, you know, dysphoria.
5:34
Yep.
21:11
Yep.
21:11
And it's primarily because of how much exposure to traumatic blasts that we endure all the time, whether it's during training operations, we're doing demo, we're breaching.
21:23
Um, you're just constantly getting blast waves that go through the brain.
21:28
And, uh, you know, it...
21:30
I was o- back from my second deployment, uh, had just been overseas with, uh, a gr- an ODA, a group of, uh, Green Berets, you know, giving the Taliban the good news.
21:41
And I was about to get out of the Army, and I, I'd lost my kind of entire identity, and I didn't realize what was going on in my brain at the time.
21:51
Uh, just exposure to all these blast waves, PTSD, the whole nine.

Jeremy SovaPANELIST
35:35
Yep, correct.
5:42
Mm-hmm.
5:42
So you spill Legos all over the floor, and then this floor's kind of floating around.
5:47
So your brain's immune system, it's called your glial cells, these little guys, they have three primary roles.
5:54
If you're in a healthy brain where nothing's going wrong, they shepherd your neurons' functions.
5:59
They help you, uh, think and cognate better.
6:02
Uh, when they see a foreign contaminant, see these Legos floating around, or like a bacterium or something, they switch modes.
6:10
They, they normally have these little tendrils that reach out.
9:47
Yeah.
