But this was a master's level ACT accredited evangelism class.

And I thought, "I've got nothing.

I'm a blank slate." So then I thought, "Okay, blank slate.

If I had to evangelize Australia, how would a missionary evangelize Australia?" And I, I think that's the advantage of going to SMBC, that missions is a core part of everything we study, and we recognize, you know what? Everything is missions, because everything is cross-cultural, intercultural, uh, looking for the heart language of people.

Yes, the gospel is true for all peoples, all times, all places, but how can I speak it into this particular person's culture's heart language? And that's the role of a missiologist.

So I thought, "Okay, how can we evangelize Australia using everything I've learnt from missiology lectures at SMBC?" And, you know, the first year, I only had a handful of hours of content, but then what I'd do was I would invite other gifted evangelists to deliver guest lectures.

Oh, yeah.

To start with, can you share with us a time you've given a sermon and at some kind of outreach event, whether that's Christmas, Easter, somewhere else, and you felt like it really landed? You felt like it hit the mark? And what you think kind of made the difference? What you think it is that made it land

well? I think, well, last Christmas went really, really well.

And I think I just had a good, oh, what makes it land well? So maybe let's spiral into it.

So because I've been preaching for 20, 30 years, like 20 or 30 years ago, it was very different.

You just had to Preach, you know, hey, ta-da, you know, Jesus, he was born, he's king, he died on a cross for you, he's going to come again, ta-da, and that was it.

And that's how Tim Keller describes the age of Christendom, that the people already had the assumed dots.

They believed in God.

What's different about your preparation for that sermon than a kind of regular, normal Sunday sermon? Like, is there anything that's different as you're preparing for them?
