Sam Bottoms

And there's been a, a few televised series.

One in 1981, a miniseries was made of the novel with, uh, Karen Allen, Anne Baxter, Timothy Bottoms, Sam Bottoms, I assume they're playing the brothers, and Warren Oates.

It would be fascinating to see, especially now that the latest has been released.

In 2024, Netflix ordered a seven-episode limited series adaptation of the novel with Zoe Kazan writing and, uh, Florence Pugh attached to star.

As played by Jane Seymour, she was a force of nature and of pure evil, who, after giving birth to twins she didn't want, would shoot her husband and abandon her babies.

When Cal, played in this version by Sam Bottoms, meets her, he demands an explanation, which she gives him chillingly.

I want you to tell me why you shot my father.

Because he tried to stop me! I could've killed him, but I didn't.

I just looked it up really quickly.

Sam Bottoms and Karen Black.

And I'm not a movie buff.

And so just because I don't know who an actor is, it doesn't mean very much.
