Then Michael returns from Sicily, eventually becomes the godfather.

Vito Corleone dies, and then Michael finds out who the traitor is, being Tessio.

That then leads to the third act, climax, a pivotal and usually emotional moment in which the protagonist makes a key decision or is forced to take crucial action.

In the case, again, of the Godfather, the baptism of Michael's nephew crosscut with the executions of Michael's mob rivals.

From the climax, we go to the following action and resolution, the results of the climatic action.

and how it alters the course for the protagonist and hopefully creates an emotional catharsis for the viewer.

For falling action, Michael has Carlo and Tessio killed.

For resolution, we have Connie and Kay confront Michael about Carlo and questioning him on whether or not he killed Carlo.
