Ruth Carr, Deirdre Brennan, Mary Dorsey, Joan McBreen, and Joan edited the White Page anthology in the late 90s, which was the first anthology of women writers, you know, significant anthology of women writers based on, had they published in book form before, Alva Smith, Joan Newman, Nuala Ní Gónaill and Elaine Nicholl-Noyne.

And then the great pantheon of women, Margaret McCurtain, Yvonne Boland, Carol Rumans, Caroline Walsh and Edna O'Brien.

A Milltown Malby-born writer has received major recognition in Australia for her acclaimed poetry collection, exploring the experiences of Irish women and girls who emigrated during the Great Famine.

Dr Anne Casey's sixth book, Shang Hungering, published by Ennis Diamond-based Salmon Poetry, has been highly commended in the 2026 Salmon.

New South Wales History Awards and drawing on extensive historical research and archival records.

Anne's work gives voice to the women and girls who fled this country for Australia during the famine and delighted to welcome Anne Casey to the show.

Oh gosh, I was completely, absolutely blown away indeed.
