[laughs] Well, it's also, I was thinking about Sally Kellerman's part is why, I think that's kind of an interesting read of all their stuff together is she's the one thing he actually learns at school, which is like he learns a little about English.
M
33:19Martin CarlsonHOST
She says, "You don't, don't watch the movie." It's like you need to connect with the text to realize that you felt the same thing.

B
53:54Bjorn OlsonHOST
Well, that's the thing that we never really figure out.
B
53:59Bjorn OlsonHOST
It seems like Sally Kellerman's Louise is controlling the birds, and she somehow...
B
54:06Bjorn OlsonHOST
It seems to me like she somehow has the power to... have everyone appear that they've been strangled somehow without them actually being strangled like that's the kind of weird magic realist element to this movie that's not really explained and and like that's fine it doesn't have to be but it i like it's it's i don't think it's it's harold that's that's the strangler i think it's louise that's doing it like she's
J
54:30Jaime RebanalGUEST
If anything, it's also Brewster himself that represents the very animalistic tendencies that already exist within ourselves, but he's just trying to enact on them so much faster than anybody else would.

The scene where, I mean, a famous scene where Hot Lips, played by Sally Kellerman, is showering and the wall on the tent is dropped so that the whole camp can see her in the shower.

now does feel like oh right right how many of these people do we have to call marshall you know that's that's a number of hr violations right there i mean she's
J
49:32Joe TwymanGUEST
consistently the very fact that she's called hot lips is she's consistently a victim of what would now be now be called slut shaming
R
49:40Rob HuttonHOST
yeah i mean there's a there's a there's an amazing line you know the nicest thing that anyone says to her is you're a pain in the ass hot lips but you're a hell of a nurse it doesn't get any better than that I
J
49:56Joe TwymanGUEST
think it's interesting that Sally Kellerman who played Hot Lips was the only member of the cast to be nominated for an acting Oscar
R
50:03Rob HuttonHOST
and it's vanishingly rare
J

And so I did, I did come down and I got to visit the set, and I got to have some of the best catfish I've ever had in my life, so I'm a fan.
R

And I thought, "Oh, that's great." And so we did a two-hour show and, um, I had never, I don't think I'd ever done this before, but she was asking me about what I was doing as of late, and it was doing guided meditations with people, where I'm sure you're familiar with the term.
R
8:26Richard MartiniGUEST
I had just finished filming, I filmed about 200 hypnosis sessions with, uh, Michael Newton-trained hypnotherapists, and others, where people were saying the same things about the afterlife.
R
8:39Richard MartiniGUEST
And of course when I first came across Michael's work, I thought, "Is this possible? What's going on?" Um, and as you mentioned in the intro, it, my close friend Luana Anders, an actress, been in over 100 movies and TV shows, she passed away and started visiting me.
R
8:58Richard MartiniGUEST
And at first I thought, "Well, that must be my imagination, wishful thinking." But then, uh, she started showing up to other people that I know, and they would say the same things.

R

so I think that kind of wraps up everything I need to say about MASH but unless there's anything we didn't touch on
B
66:05Bjorn OlsonHOST
no I think we covered everything I mean you know they should have listened to us in 1970 if they'd taken our notes of like keeping bigger part for Michael Murphy and keeping keeping Duvall in the picture a little bit longer and giving Sally Kellerman more of a well-rounded character this would have been a five star picture but I do I do love like it's I agree with all the points that you talk about.
B
66:34Bjorn OlsonHOST
They're all my misgivings about it as well.
