Later in this same surah the word turns up twice more and both times it is true.

Hud calls himself a trustworthy advisor to his people, and Salih says he advised them.

Those are sessions still ahead of us.

Ibn Kathir adds one plain remark here.

And so Allah Azza wa Jal tells us here that this was something which was common amongst the people.

And we see throughout the Quran in the story of Hud and Salih and Ibrahim and Lut and Shuaib, and even in the stories that Allah Azza wa Jal mentions, uh, of the other prophets, that the vast majority of their nations disagreed with them.

They denied them.

They rejected them and disbelieved in them.

And from the mercy of Allah Azza wa Jal upon this ummah of the Prophet, Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam, is that Allah Azza wa Jal granted the request of the Prophet, Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam, that He wouldn't destroy them all in that way.

They wouldn't all be wiped away in that similar way.

So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala for those previous nations, the people of Hud, the people of Salih, the people of Lut, the people of Shu'ayb, Pharaoh and his people during the time of Musa alayhi salam, they were destroyed one after the other.

But rather we have made them tales, stories that people tell one another.

Now, Hud and actually Salih also as well, they belong to tribes, Aad and Thamud, that are called the extinct Arabs.

So they divide the Arabs into this type of Arabs, those types of Arabs, and there's Al-Arab Al-Ba'ida, the Arabs that gone extinct.

There are a couple of other tribes that have gone extinct.

And the scholars differed over this.

Some of them said it is Hudh, because it seems that Allah knows best that he was the next prophet to follow on from Nuh as Allah mentions in Surah Hud that he said to his people don't you remember what Allah did to Nuh so it seems that he came after him and Allah knows best and some of the scholars said that it's the prophet Salih and the people therefore the nation of Thamud and Allah knows best so either way Allah speaks about another nation that came after the time of Nuh Allah says in verse 32 فَأَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِمْ رَسُولًا مِّنْهُمْ أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِّنْ إِلَهٍ غَيْرُهُ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ And we sent one of their owners a messenger and we said to them, Worship Allah for He is your only God.

Will you not then heed Him? And so this messenger and this prophet also came with the same call as Nuh before him.

And that is that he came to his people and he said to them, worship Allah alone.

And Allah then concludes this passage by saying in verse 41, The blast just struck them and we swept them away like scum, away with the evil doers.

Allah says that we sent upon them the sayha, the scream or the blast that came upon them and destroyed them.

And as we said, this is why some of the scholars said that it is the people of Thamud and their Prophet being Salih because Allah mentions elsewhere that this is how the people of Thamud were destroyed.

But Allah knows best because there could have been other nations that were also destroyed in this way and Allah knows best.

Who will support me against Allah if I sack them and dismiss the poor Muslims? I'll be in a position where Allah will be angry with me and none of you will be able to help me.

And Salih , he said, Who will give me power against Allah if I disobey Him? Who will be able to help me and champion me? And so Allah had made this promise That if you follow him and you submit to him, he had made it actually a promise, an obligation on himself.

So he said, It is an obligation on us.

It is incumbent on us.

So Allah is not talking about every single prophet, but some of the prophets of Allah, like those who had power, like Dawud and Sulaiman, like Nuh.

What happened to the people of Nuh? Their people were destroyed, right? So that's victory from Allah عز و جل.

The people of Salih, the people of Hud.

And what happened with Muhammad عليه الصلاة والسلام? He had victories, many victories against his enemies.

And you have a lot of others.

And in some of these others, you find some bizarre understandings that the Dabba shall be like the she-camel of Salih will be resurrected again.

And that is the Dabba.

Or another said, it is the child of the she-camel of Salih.

The one that they killed.

So in any case...

Most of them were polytheists.

See what was the consequence of their polytheism, whether it's the nation of Aad or Thamud or the nation of Salih.

Set then your face in devotion to the straight path before there comes upon a day in which there is no turning away from Allah.

On that day, the people will be separated.

Know then that those who came before you were dealt with in a similar way.

The people of Nuh did the same to Nuh and the people of Hud, Aad did the same to Hud and Thamud did the same to the prophet Salih alayhimu salatu wa sallam.

And not just them but then Allah Azza wa Jal continues in verse 43, Wa qawmu Ibrahīma wa qawmu Lūta And Ibrahim, the people of Ibrahim and the people of Lut.

Meaning the people of Ibrahim rejected Ibrahim as we know in the story between his father and his people and him.

I gave the disbelievers time but in the end I punished them.

How I condemned them.

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says and not just these prophets Nuh and Hud and Salih and Ibrahim and Lut but also the people of Madyan and the way that they rejected their prophet Shu'ayb alayhi salatu wa sallam.

And even the prophet Musa alayhi salatu wa sallam was called a liar by Pharaoh.
