Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer

The 1st and 29th U.S. Infantry Divisions will take three of these.

Moving from east to west, these are Fox, which faces Coliville, Easy, which faces Saint-Laurent, and Dog, which faces Vierville.

We then go one last click to the west to find a fourth sector, Charlie, which falls to C Company of the 2nd Ranger Battalion.

Yes, Rangers.

It's a welcomed sight, especially for troops with hardly a single junior officer in the ranks above them still breathing.

Roughly an hour after the initial landings, the first minor breakthrough on Omaha occurs.

part of the 2nd Battalion of the 16th Infantry lands between Saint-Laurent and Colville, and crossing the beach largely intact, they penetrate German lines.

Half an hour later, at 8 a.m., Brigadier General Norman Dutch Cota searches for a place to break through the wire toward Les Moulins.

Bonjour from...

Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer in Normandy Beach, at Normandy Beach, 136 Sunday.

Beautiful, sunny day, but windy.

Good to listen in.
