Saint Laurent Boulevard

I'm with my best friend, Rick.

We are down on Rue Saint Laurent.

And we just dined at Schwartz's Deli, which has been around since 1928.

My good friend, Chris Ford, recommended that you have to go there.

I'll talk more about this as, uh, the release, uh, uh, looms closer, but, um, yeah, pretty cool.

And this, the screening was up at Cinema Modern on, uh, Saint Laurent Boulevard, not Ville Saint Laurent.

You always gotta clarify.

The main, as they call it.

And then you've got the Boulevard Festival as well.

Reminder, that's in town for tonight until the weekend, which means that Saint-Laurent Boulevard between Sherbrooke and Mont-Royal is transformed into a pedestrian zone for its eighth edition.

And it's a bunch of free activities, family-friendly, so that's in town as well tonight.

And I'll fit one more in.

It's Boulevard Festival.

That means that Saint-Laurent Boulevard between Sherbrooke and Mont-Royal is going to be pedestrian up until September 6th, I believe.

does that start?

And what's been fascinating is that over time, you know, that strategy now has the hard data and the outcomes.

to actually be able to say with certainty when Boulevard Saint-Laurent is completely on its own because it's a major artery of the city and closing it regularly to pedestrian, making it only pedestrian would have very challenging outcomes.

But some of these, Duluth and some of the smaller streets, Montréal is the longest pedestrianized street in the world.

And it has a lot of tourism benefits, but also commercial.

For decades, the iconic Schwartz's Deli on Montreal's Boulevard Saint-Laurent has served cans of Cott black cherry soda, but no more.

On the streets of Villarey today, dozens of Montrealers gathered for a solemn march, holding candles and signs that read, Stop the Violence.

The crowd moved along Rue Saint-Michel, pausing at the intersection with Boulevard Saint-Laurent to chant together.

Organizers from Maison de Haïti explained the demonstration is a response to two recent killings of women in suspected intimate partner attacks, both occurring within the past week.

Participants shared stories of friends and relatives lost to domestic abuse, urging the city to act.
