Lucy Schumann 48-year-old Lucy Schumann was reported missing on September 19th, 2019 by the owner of the rental property she was staying in at Coral Bay, St. John, Virgin Islands when she failed to check out as planned.

Upon entering the property, the owner found all of her belongings, but there was no sign of Lucy, which prompted him to phone the police and report her missing.

A preliminary search showed that Lucy had left her backpack and passport in the rental apartment, and it's theorized that she went hiking in the Virgin Islands National Forest and possibly encountered trouble while out on her hike.

Carl Caesar, who was a spokesperson for the Virgin Islands Police, said in a statement to CNN on September 25th, 2019, the search now includes some of the most remote and rugged areas of the park.

The terrain is very steep and thickly vegetated, while conditions are hot, wet, and humid.

Much of the southern shoreline of St. John is cliff and borders and access is limited to swimming in from a small watercraft.

During the initial search for Lucy, the island was hit by the threat of a tropical storm, which only complicated the search efforts.

How are you today?

So I would go and a lot of the times hike by myself, and I was on the Reef Bay Trail that morning, and I was just doing my mindful walking meditation, just being very present and being in the moment.

It was during a time that the island of St. John, US Virgin Islands, was experiencing a lot of rain.

Like we had, I don't know, something like five straight days of rain producing something like 30 inches or something crazy.

You could check the facts on that, [laughs] I'm sure.

We had the regular shit show of St. John, when the power is out, and when the phones are out, and we have flooding.

So I was trying to make the most of this extra rain that we had, and I went to the Reef Bay Trail specifically to go see the waterfall.

And there is another waterfall above the one that has the petroglyphs that everyone visits.

And I feel that the island has always given me these big signals.

So in the pandemic, I finally had some time and I ended up becoming a scuba dive master.

I worked at a dive shop in St. John, USVI, just hung out there and loaded tanks onto a boat and took people scuba diving all day long.

And I was like, huh, if theater doesn't work out, this is going to be fine, you know, but luckily, luckily.

I moved to the Caribbean and I worked as a dive master and a waitress in St. John, Virgin Islands, and I met some of my best friends in the world and, and it was amazing.
