Maybe we can start there with your experience around Dyson and how you then came up with Niobold many years ago and just to understand the background story a bit more.
2:12
Sure.
2:13
So it goes back to my research days in Cambridge as a scientist, young scientist, graduate scientist looking to do work.
2:21
change the world, you know, create technology that can help people.
2:25
And the problem I was given at that time was to improve the charging speed of an energy storage device or to increase the energy if it charged very fast.
2:36
So if you look at energy storage devices in general, like batteries included, electrical energy storage devices, you have things like capacitors, you have batteries, you have fuel cells and, you know... and dielectric capacitors as well so film capacitors so if you look at all of these devices you have trade-offs of like the holdup time, which is how fast you can get the energy in and out and how long they last in terms of endurance cycles and also just generally application limits, right? So my specific project going back about 20 years ago now was related to improving the energy of capacitors, so supercapacitors.

So that's basically what Dyson funded a program that I was working on.

But Looking at the former university project to then this heavily backed scale-up that you're running right now, are there any other things that you really, that taught you how to do things that you would not miss anymore? You wish your 20-year younger youth would have known any of those? Well,
