all that knowledge gave Portuguese sailors a huge competitive advantage when it came to exploration.

It is a place that you may know because a beer is named after it.

But there's much more to Sagres than that.

Now to get to Sagres we've come down here to the main bus station in the middle of Lagos.

It's an easy to find place dead in the centre and there's a small ticket office.

Now there are a number of buses that go from here down to Sagres.

One is an express bus that will cost you about €12.50 one way but if you get the local bus it's about half that price and you get to see some of the villages along the way so that's the one I'm going to check out.

And here we are, just about an hour out of Lagos in Sagres.
