Safety data sheet

The little area underneath is for any extra information, like if it's radioactive or reacts violently with water or something.

If you ever need to know more about a chemical and what it might do to you or to the world, there's the good ol' MSDS, the Material Safety Data Sheet.

Every chemical has one, and it'll tell you all the terrible things that it might do to you.

If you ever need to find one really fast, you don't need to go to the cabinet anymore.

You can just Google MSDS HCL or whatever chemical you think is in the process of killing your friend.

There will be information on how best to treat the person who got exposed.

Of course, you should have always read the MSDS before you even touch a chemical.

Also, you should probably assume that every liquid in a lab that is not water is flammable.

'Cause, you know, the Mets start in the spring of 1962 and, and so does the American New Left.

SDS had their foundational conference in, in Port Huron at the same time the Mets had their first spring training.

They wrote the Port Huron Statement dedicated to creating a democratic revolution in the United States to, to take power from the politicians and the elite and put it back into the hands of the people.

And the Mets were also something of a countercultural phenomenon in New York around the same time.

I'm working on a, a project, uh, very slowly, but mostly I'm just really enjoying having these conversations about the book, talking to other Mets fans and other baseball fans and, um, you know, sharing these stories.

I, I've learned, I've learned so many sort of left moments in the Mets history that I didn't find when I was researching the book.

Like, I, I just found out that, uh, the, the organization that became the SDS, the New American Movement, had a chapter called The Mets [chuckles] in, in Queens and Long Island, and that, um, Tom Seaver, uh, complained that he was being, uh, treated like a communist by M. Donald Grant, things like that.

So I'm still learning stuff about the Mets and having a lot of fun, you know, going to games and meeting Mets fans and hearing them say, "It's like you wrote a book specifically for me." But I h- I've heard that hundreds of times, and so I tell them, "N- no, this is, this is just the Mets." Mets fans, I think, uh, you know, maybe in a, a different time, a different place where there's a, a huge Communist Party or a huge Labor Party, people would...

yeah yeah the larger one size so um what we i try to do is like okay can we get the sds let's let's find what this stuff is just before we even touch anything um so that was a little bit of challenge trying to get that so i'm like all right well while we're waiting let me just go to like wiser let me go cameo um couldn't find it and um went to pubchem i did find some stuff but it wasn't for a good for my initial assessment so i went to google And I did find SDS is from different manufacturers.

I'm like, OK, match the cast numbers up or run.

Let's let's check this stuff out.

When we look at incompatibilities right below section 9 into 10 is we notice they're like, hey, may form peroxide forming explosive crystals.

I said, yeah, I said, all right, we're going to take a step back for a second.

So we finally get some SDS as we look forward into it.

And we're just doing our initial assessment.

It's not.

If you go on my, um, page, my MSDS sheet shows my formula in and out, every percentage, every ingredient.

I'm not scared to showcase that because the certificates that I need and the formulations that I have, I've paid for to make sure they're so watertight and regulated within this industry.

Now, that's very, very hard to do for an individual person to start off.

You need a massive cashflow for it.

You really do, and that's something that I didn't know about when you first started.

So when I rebranded everything, I didn't just have my MSDS sheets and everything that people asked for.

I made it so that everybody can see everything that they've ever wanted to ask me.

except it's, I just learned last night, I was reading the SDS on it.

It's made of formaldehyde, like almost entirely formaldehyde, plus some either water or ethyl, whatever.

And what it does is it... either wets out on a clean surface or it beads up on a dirty surface.

management? So very nuanced.

So I started off in software and, working for in a kind of like a SDS management, environmental health and safety company.

They were small and then they were acquired by a larger company.

And so once I got into that larger company, they wanted to bucket all of the, you know, asset management, facilities management, ESG into a full solution where they, folks had full visibility on the entire lifecycle.

Yeah.

You know, maybe if your stuff comes with a material safety data sheet, MSDS for them, should exercise some caution to it it's like people that buy super concentrated vinegar right it's like okay well you know the stuff you you get for cooking is not nearly as corrosive as the stuff for industrial purposes you got to be cool with that kind of stuff too you know people i i remember learning a lot of this when i went to school
