Sabbath of vision

We begin in Hoshea, perek yud daled, pasuk beis, and this is why it's called Shabbos Shuva.

Just like Shabbat Hazon is called after Hazon Ish, Ben Amas, and Shabbos Nachamu is called after Nachamu Nachamu Ami.

We read those Haftarot, of course.

So this is called after the opening word of the Haftarah for Shabbos Shuva.

Anyway, so now we know the reasons for this custom of the Haftarah.

One other thing we know, after the destruction of the temple, meaning after we read Tisha B'Av and, uh, Shabbat Chazon, we have seven weeks in a row that we read Haftarah.

That is words of the prophets to comfort Jerusalem and the Jewish nation.

Meaning God said to the Jews, "You raised my anger because of your sins.

There's less than a year of drashot, which will continue.

The last one being Shabbat Chazon in the summer of 1942.

Here we are in the fall of 1941.

And

Well, you're probably already on it, actually, because we started at the top.

But the middle of page five This is the special Haftorah for this Shabbat, Shabbat Chazon, Shabbat of the vision of Isaiah, the Shabbat preceding Tisha B'Av.

It's a powerful evocative critique of the status quo.

It's a clarion call to change.
