Now, the most detailed Yeti sighting came from an unexpected source: Slawomir Rawicz, a Polish lieutenant who was imprisoned by the Soviets during World War II.

In 1956, he published his book, The Long Walk, where he described how in 1941, he and six other men escaped from a gulag in Siberia and then trekked thousands of miles on foot until they reached India.

It seems that during their journey, they ran into not one but two abominable snowmans.

Now, Rawicz went on to say that his group's standoff with the snow creatures lasted about two hours.

At around the halfway point, one of the other men tried to scare them off, first by shouting and flailing his arms around, then by throwing rocks and ice at them.
