I wanted to start, I just wonder if you can lay out the landscape for, if you're a Canadian who likes watching NHL hockey right now, give us a lay of the land.

I mean, before you came on to join me here, I was thinking in my time as a journalism student back at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in the late 1970s and moving from a small town in eastern Ontario and being tickled to death that I could watch a Buffalo Sabres game once a week on TV see a local's Leafs broadcast once a week on CHCH and then first watch Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday nights.

And the fact that I got to watch three games back then, I thought I'd won the lottery.

Well, a couple of things.

I don't think we're all that far from that technology and safety and security.

I think that needs to happen.

Why aren't we doing what you're doing with the Manning game cast to me who's gonna do it like like i i don't know who the talent is and this comes back to that that question again like where and how are we creating and fostering an environment and ecosystem to develop content to give people the right to do that um and and that's what it takes i think that you know the call to sports media is one i i think uh Ryerson has a sports media program, but I think it's really important that these kids, you know, you know, with all, with all due respect to Roger Lajoie, he's been on the fan a lot this week, the last couple of weeks, like with all due respect to the Raj, like why is there not some young kid on the air during that time? Like to me, That's how you get somebody the reps.

Those late night shows, whatever it is, you've got to give young people an opportunity to get out there and generate a persona and get their own shtick, if you will, whatever it is.

So did the judge miss the mark on that? So stay tuned on that one as US authorities are zeroing in on that.

Another interesting story has to do with the law school at Toronto Metropolitan University, formerly known as Ryerson.

There's an effort by a group of lawyers in the Law Society of Ontario that are asking the Law Society to withdraw accreditation for the university's law school, and this is because of a damning report documenting rampant anti-Semitism in that university.

Interesting case.

They were shut out 1-0 in Milwaukee.

He pitched the shutout to beat Baltimore this afternoon 1-0.

Tonight, he gave up 10 hits, did Ryerson.

I have a feeling he didn't walk anybody, but he won the ball game and he beat Jim Palmer.

So another afternoon game, the Cubs shut out Montreal by a score of 8-0 in the National League.

And Baltimore got ten hits.

Milwaukee got only five hits and made two errors.

A former city planning official who leads Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives, the nonprofit developer that has spearheaded much of the revival of the Pullman neighborhood on the far South Side since 2010, said that among the general public, quote, "There's a fundamental misunderstanding of what TIF is," and the UIC study falls prey to that.

Ecker noted that a C&I-commissioned report published last year found that redevelopment on and near a 180-acre former Ryerson Steel facility site rebranded as Pullman Park created thousands of new jobs and meaningfully boosted the neighborhood's median household income.

Ecker further noted that the UIC report argued the record surplus declarations have been logical in recent years, with citywide TIF fund balances jumping by a whopping 50% between 2021 and 2024.

And when TIF money is surplused, it's distributed proportionally along taxing bodies like Chicago Public Schools, the city, Cook County, and various local agencies.
