we're going to talk about chapters one through nine next week for book club so i'm really excited for that if you're not interested in that because you are doing your prep for akatar six much like myself i'm doing that simultaneously and i just started reading crescent city so if you want to talk about that slide into my dms let me know what you think i'm actually really really enjoying crescent city so far i read all of akatar i mean one through five i've read all of throne of glass dare i say that reading the first crescent city i think it might be my favorite so far, which like I'm mad at myself for not reading it sooner.

Let's talk about the horrific social pressure in The Woman in Cabin 10.

Ruth Ware is an absolute specialist in utilizing isolated, inescapable settings.

This is a classic locked room mystery, but the room happens to be a luxury yacht floating in the middle of the dark ocean.

We follow a travel journalist named Lo Blacklock, played by Keira Knightley, who boards this incredibly exclusive boutique cruise for a career-making assignment.

But I'll have to wait until it appears on another streaming service before I get to watch it.

So the first one that I want to mention, Brooke, is One by One, which is, as you know, by Ruth Ware.

It was published in 2020.

And you have talked about this book many times, which is why I put it on my list this year.

I think so.

When I was reading this, I was comparing it to something like In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware, um, which is... it's pretty recent, uh, but it's set in a remote area without reliable Wi-Fi or cell service.

And so they made that, so it's like trying to take the tech out of the solution, and they're out for a hen party in the woods and then the murders start.

And so it's just like, with me, stories like that, and there's quite a few of them that are set in, like, isolated areas.

was interested in writing Christie for the Instagram age, but of course the people who do that so well are.

people like Ruth Ware and Lucy Foley and on that Friday Lucy Foley is talking about her new Markle isn't she at three o'clock so I'm a big fan of hers and

I am really intrigued all the reviews and if it's yeah sounds so good

yeah exactly and I think Miss Markle is is a really underrated character and I read one of the Markles recently and the psychological dexterity of her is really interesting actually and it's such a good conceit isn't it this little old lady who's you know often kind of sometimes i can't which was when i read recently and she was actually just you know at home in mary's need she couldn't for some reason she was ill or something she couldn't get out of bed or something and she was getting other people to do all this sort of the the detective work for her but you know i'm so i love the idea that she's gone off to the alps and she's having a bit of an adventure so i'm looking forward to that My lovely friends, Chilly Macmillan and Claire Douglas are doing a panel with Dorothy Coombson, who I think is superb.

I really don't.

I think I was reading a blog or something years ago about like Ruth Ware or, you know, one of those authors that first came out with thrillers.

And then I started reading them and I'm like, why have I not been reading these? I used to read like Nicholas Sparks, very drastically different from thrillers.

And so once I started and finished like a whole book in a day, I was like, okay, I think I've found what I like to read.

Ruth Ware is great.
