Rusty Gaston

[upbeat music] Welcome back to Thank a Songwriter.

My name is Rusty Gaston.

I am the CEO of Sony Music Publishing Nashville.

This is our opportunity to have Hall of Fame conversations with some of the most successful songwriters in Nashville and beyond.

That's right.

Rusty Gaston said, I think he said, f- uh, "If it's about faith, family, or, like, freedom or something like that, like, that's country music kind of wrapped up into a thing."

Yeah.

I love that.

That's what happened.

The night before Rusty Gaston come and saw me.

Unreal.

And so when he said, Gene Washington recorded two songs you wrote, no way.
