Rustin

And I don't even think Michael is a great shakes.

versus Michael is a tough one.

But I'm like,

Sing Sing's good, and that's a good movie.

We love Sing Sing.

And he's good in Rustin.

I just don't think the movie's great.

This next question comes from Mark.

My question is sort of a two-parter that surrounds, when will Coleman Domingo finally get an Oscar? Even before Rustin premiered, he was announced as Joe Jackson in the Michael biopic, and I figured he'd be a shoo-in to not just get a nomination, but a win.

But it seems like Michael will get very little, if any, awards attention.

Do you think he still has a chance in supporting? Is there a similar actor or actress who was or slash is sorely due for a win, but even in roles that may traditionally warrant attention, have been dragged down by the low performance of the film?

Okay.

And then Coleman Domingo was nominated for Best Actor in 2024 for Rustin, making him the second openly gay man nominated for playing...

Yeah, for...

Yeah.

Year before that there were, uh, how many, what was...

Uh, 2023 there was Rustin and The Color Purple.

Year before that were there were, there were four in 2022, which is the most we've had since like 2008 or something.

Like, with Aftersun and Blonde and To Leslie and Causeway.

But yeah, so...

Usually this is where I asked, you know, where I would ask, you know, what made you pick this movie? I came to you with two movies left on the list between this and Rustin.

So between this and Rustin, what drew you to The Green Goddess in particular?

Well... um i i do have a tendency to try to not talk intelligently or attempt to talk intelligently about things that i just do not know about yeah and i i cannot say that i am the foremost scholar on on bayard rustin and the civil rights movement in general white guy talking about civil rights is probably not on the high list i bet i was thinking you know i bet you could get a better like I love Coleman Domingo.

I actually liked that performance.

I would have had no reason to have watched this before now.

But it was just always there on the list.

Like I said, it was down to the wire of this and Rustin as the last two to be chosen.
