CobraHOST

Everyone has.
CobraHOST
27:59
And for me, this is how important for me this is because I've always said with games like Rust and Scum and all of the other that have tried to beat a DayZ market, DayZ is still the best survival game out there by a long way, in my opinion.
CobraHOST
28:16
But the base building has always let us down in terms of official stuff.
CobraHOST
28:20
So for me, this could be revolutionary here.

CobraHOST

I love
BoydyHOST
48:33
it.
BoydyHOST
48:34
I like that because I've been playing Rust a bit lately and they've got a mechanic in there where this wall was damaged, you can't repair it for 30 seconds or so and It's a gameplay mechanic and it works for their game, but I don't think that would work for something like DayZ.
BoydyHOST
48:53
I like that it's more a case of, well, if you're unlucky enough that they're online and you're raiding, that's something you...
D. ScrufflesHOST
34:31
We're going apples to oranges here with that.
D. ScrufflesHOST
34:36
I think I played too much Rust.
StratusHOST
34:38
Because in Rust, the only way you can play in a Premiere server is to have provenly spent $15 on shit to prove you're legit in it to play the game, not just to go in there and start trouble.
StratusHOST
34:51
So you can see all the Premiere servers, you just can't join them.
StratusHOST
34:54
And then you have all the other servers.
D. ScrufflesHOST
34:56
Now go on Steam's numbers and look at the number of players that play Rust and compare that to Forefront.
D. ScrufflesHOST
35:04
But yeah, I mean.
D. ScrufflesHOST
35:05
Forefront doesn't have the room with their player count to start to segment them away like that.
DarrenHOST
59:33
Yeah.
DarrenHOST
59:34
I mean, there's, there's people that are really into these kind of games, like Rust and all that kind of stuff, so you can kind of see where people would enjoy it.
Mark WebbHOST
59:44
Yeah.
DarrenHOST
59:44
And like I say, it's, it's quite a big scope type of game for obviously what it is.
DarrenHOST
59:49
I don't know how big the worlds are on that Rust, but the, the one in this seems like I haven't even explored like a, a quarter of it really.
Mark WebbHOST
59:59
Hmm.
Mark WebbHOST
60:00
Interesting.
DaveHOST
10:11
I think
TravisGUEST
10:11
Rust could be really interesting.
DaveHOST
10:13
I'd say Rust.
TravisGUEST
10:14
Yeah, like someone waking up on the beach and having to survive.
AndyHOST
10:17
Oh, I've heard that premise before.

TravisGUEST

I think the devs underestimate the power of...
TravisGUEST
48:49
It's just free advertisement.
TravisGUEST
48:51
I know Rust recently did an update to add more replay tools to make cinematics better and stuff.
NateHOST
15:58
Yeah.
NateHOST
15:59
I had some friends that were really into Rust and really into Ark.
NateHOST
16:02
And it's the same idea.
NateHOST
16:04
Like, you know, your base will, the same way a house would in real life with nobody living in it, like it just tends to crumble and die.
Jonathan YarborGUEST
23:17
You have to have a firm direction to go for it to be a successful game.
Jonathan YarborGUEST
23:22
um i'd use rust as a prime example of this if you go pull up these steam charts like on steam db for rust and you compare it to a game like fallout for example that does have mods rust kicks its ass and fallout has like a tv adaptation that you can see in your in your in your player graph You know, they both have mods, but on one hand, the team at Facepunch that's working on Rust is deliberate in how they do partnerships with mods, how they do partnerships with server owners.
Jonathan YarborGUEST
23:58
They do all these things in a way that really is focusing on a business of like, how do we do more with this IP? And it has to be hand in hand.
Jonathan YarborGUEST
24:08
It has to be deliberate and has to be planned.
JasonHOST
57:38
Yeah, yeah.
JasonHOST
57:39
I was just been back playing Rust.
JasonHOST
57:42
[laughs] I've been, I've been playing, um, The Show 26.
JasonHOST
57:47
It's free on the PlayStation still.
JasonHOST
57:55
I, uh- It's actually, um, really good ...
JasonHOST
57:57
I had ARK running on the PlayStation the other day.
JasonHOST
58:00
I had footy on me phone whilst playing Rust on the computer.
JasonHOST
58:08
Yeah, I know.
AlexHOST
6:16
The concept of PAL World is based on ARK Survival Evolved, which also had monster companions in the dinosaurs, and obviously the tech tree and things like that are all very clearly from that side of games.
AlexHOST
6:32
The survival mechanic and in-game tasks were inspired by Rust, and RimWorld was also cited as a major inspiration.
AlexHOST
6:42
The thing is...
AlexHOST
6:44
There are no new ideas in the world.
