Rurouni Kenshin

And I think this is, uh, the fact that there are two anime adaptations, uh, the hailed anime, anime adaptation in this case for me is the first one, the Furuhashi one.

And, uh, as he did with, uh, Rurouni Kenshin and Hunter x Hunter, where he did the first versions of those adaptations too that have gotten rebooted, his was less faithful than the ones which would follow.

The difference is, in the case of Fruits Basket, it was a series that need, a manga that needed changes and whereas Rurouni Kenshin, Hunter x Hunter much less so in my opinion.

And so not that his adaptations of those two series weren't great, but the fact is they didn't need to be changed when they went in anime form.

There's a lot of s- a lot of stuff going down in the original manga that's really dodgy to me, like a lot of really, really bad choices.

Big of a fan you are of samurai anime.

I think you've only seen this in Kenshin I don't know if Rama you would consider that samurai.

I don't think so because it's many different forms of

samurai

comedy No, because it's different.

It's different types of martial arts.

Like they don't all use swords They use hand-to-hand combat, but the moat the the focus is swords kind of like Kenshin is the sword guns

and

I read the manga.

It seems like this is more of just a reboot and retelling the way that, say, the Ruroken knew anime was, rather than Trigun's Stargaze and Stampede.

So we'll see what that means.

So I'm sad because it's not... we'll see what it ends up coming out as um but this is one i am very very likely to watch because it's clamp and i love clamp

Rurouni Kenshin was very heavily about the Meiji and the end of that era and the, the Shinsengumi-

Mm-hmm

... and stuff like that.

What was the switch to go, oh, this is anime? Yeah.

Yeah, I think it was honestly just, I think honestly the fact that Yu Yu Hakusho and other things like it, like Dragon Ball Z and Rurouni Kenshin, these other things were in a whole separate block.

And it was very much like this separate special thing.

That I think is what made me realize that like, oh, this is a different category of animation.

Yeah.

Because he had done the live action version of a manga series called Rurouni Kenshin, which I think I brought up back in the first episode of Marvel One Piece.

But he brought that to the table.

Emily Rudd, who plays Nami, was a longtime anime fan.

I don't want to go into all of them, but...

There's also one in there for an unannounced Telltale game, Walking Dead game, unannounced Nickelodeon games, an unannounced Rurouni Kenshin game.

So look if you dare, but just know that leaks are what they are.

This next one is of interest to me because I started last year.

I will say this.

They did a damn good job with the Kenshin films.

That was like, what, two hours and some change or something like that? It ran beautifully.

It was nice, evenly paced.

Yeah, but you gotta admit, Japan is really good at doing period movies.

Well, that is true.

Which, I mean, not for nothing, Kenshin is basically just a period manga.

So for them to turn a period manga into a period movie, I would really hope that they would do well with that.

when he actually goes into the dojo and, um, actually has that fight with, uh, with Sanosuke and, you know, whoever else happened to be there, that, that felt false to me because he, he could've, he could've killed Yahiko.

He could've crippled Sanosuke.

He could've, you know, uh, a- again, with the whole like difference between the manga and this, he could have made it seem as if he killed Kaoru.

[laughs] Oh, well.

And then dates a woman- [laughs]

We all know, we all, we all know Yahiko is his real son.

[laughs] And then dates a woman at the end that looks just like his mom.

There's not gonna be that, that hype moment in the crowd where everyone goes, "Oh," and then claps like crazy.

Um, same thing for, like, a, I don't know, fucking, I don't know, a Rurouni Kenshin game would've been amazing-

... to just suddenly get, 'cause I guarantee you it's going to follow.
