Rule of three

and honestly i think that's my influence on that like you know how it's the stand-up comic in me that's like you know just these comic comedian comedy rules that are in place in my brain that like I attribute to everything.

So we have to follow like a rule of, you know, the rule of three.

Like if you do a thing like you got to do it three times, like three examples.

do think, though, that i don't know where that comedy like rule has come from but i do feel like it is a part of culture even inadvertently because i feel like most people when you're naming something yeah people always want to have at least three things yeah sure weird it makes sense have like one or two

absolutely it does make sense yeah but like if i i can only attribute it to like comedy i'd be

curious i would actually research where that came from because i'm curious why is there a rule of threes i mean does it make sense

So that's the first practice, having that decompression ramp.

The second practice I want you to experiment with is implementing the rule of three onboarding, which is where we move from our slow times to our go times.

Now, when you're coming back off, let's say, a beautiful slow period, like you're coming back to work after taking two weeks of leave, maybe you've been on a holiday or maybe you're ramping back up again after a quieter season, uh, maybe the, you know, you know you're coming up to school holidays and it's gonna be busier 'cause the kids are at home a lot more.

What I want you to do is not look at your calendar on Monday morning and try to immediately execute a 10 out of 10 high-performance output immediately.

You're going to fracture your motivation if you try to do this.

Instead, for at least the first week or two as you kind of build back up into it, I want you to approach life with this idea of the rule of three, which is the first three days, protect your calendar fiercely.

The first three days, you only set three primary tasks to accomplish each day.

So you basically wake up and you say, "Right, if I only did three things today, what are the three things that actually matter?" And you block out the rest of your day for administration catch-up, clearing out your emails in your inbox, having low-stakes conversations, you know, still having those little pockets of slow times even as we dial back up into a go time.

But let's talk about, first of all, we had a lot of losses last week.

It kind of sort of started, you know, everybody talks about in Death of Celebrities, Rule of Threes.

I don't know where the Rule of Three is on this one because we lost Hayden Panettiere.

And then we lost Dolly.

Oh my God.

And as I was doing this, a light bulb moment flicked in my head and...

I realized about the idea of the rule of three and how very prominent it is within one piece.

Now, I know what the rule of three is from writing in the past, but to see it in one piece is kind of made me want to discuss that and bring that to light as well as some information about that.

So that's what today's episode is going to be about is looking at the triads and the rule of three that appears here.

throughout one piece and just touching on it a little bit because i think it's a really interesting subject within one piece that i would really like to talk about so let's dive into the episode and let's start by discussing the rule of three So, what is the Rule of Three? And if you've been a long-time fan of One Piece, like I am, and obviously if you listen to this podcast, I can only hope that you are, then you'll slowly start to notice that things tend to get grouped into threes very commonly.

And we see this with the Three Great Powers, and also the Three Admirals, the monstrous trio, Luffy, Sanji, and Zoro.

And we see a lot of things in threes, even if you're at the point where you're at 1-0 and the three, Jack, Queen and King, that work directly under Kaido as his most valuable and important people.
