A few months back, I interviewed the author Rufi Thorpe about her novel, Margot's Got Money Troubles, which is about a struggling single mother who figures out how to ride the algorithms to OnlyFans success.

That does not always happen, though, as we heard recently from a listener.

"I've been a big fan of the podcast for a few years now, and I'm not sure how you select people to interview, but I think I have an interesting story which would make for a good episode.

Uh, you know, she would say like, "That's dirty.

That's bad," you know, but I, I, I never have looked at her as like, I don't really look to her as a source of approval.

An authority.

Yeah, but I really like, I think there are like 10 of, of those videos.

[laughs] And so once again, you get a chaotic duo, uh, for this here episode.

Uh, this is part two of "Margo's Got Money Troubles," based on the 2024 novel by Rufi Thorpe and the 2026 Apple TV show adaptation, uh, created by David E. Kelley, and Rufi Thorpe, the author, served as an executive producer.

Um, we had a couple of different directors, but I think the show flowed pretty well.

Um, and we are gonna get into all of that, all of the plot, uh, big changes, small changes, consistencies, uh, right after these messages.

And honestly, no premise illustrates that absurdity better than Margot's got money troubles.

Hitting Apple TV+ on April 15th, based on the book by Rufi Thorpe.

Elle Fanning plays Margot, a young woman who ends up pregnant after an affair with her college English professor.

A difficult premise, certainly, but the subsequent narrative choices are what anchor this story so firmly in the socioeconomic reality of the current decade.
