Rudy Webb

I know my friend Rob Pruce worked with him on stage off-Broadway.

Rudy Webb.

Rudy.

Talk about Rudy.

that featured some absolute titans of comedy.

And I think if you are a fan of comedy in general and like the history of comedy, the cast included Eugene Levy, Martin Short, Paul Schaefer, who went on to be David Letterman's band leader, Don Scardino, who's an incredible director, Andrea Martin, Victor Garber, Jane Eastwood, Gilda Radner, Dave Thomas, and Rudy Webb.

And it features interviews with a bunch of other comedy aficionados, folks like Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mike Myers, Janine Garofalo.

So I knew absolutely nothing about this production of Godspell.

The cast was mainly unknown at the time, but wouldn't stay that way for long.

Martin Short, Eugene Levy, Dilda Radner, Andrea Martin, Dave Thomas, Victor Garber, Jane Eastwood, Rudy Webb, many others, with future Letterman band leader Paul Schaefer bussing down from Thunder Bay to sort of accidentally audition to become the musical director.

Future Saturday Night Live musical director Howard Shore played saxophone in the same production.

Now, Short has suggested the convergence of artistic talent was not unlike what happened in Paris in the 1920s.
