Rudolph Fentz

Well, yeah, we've, we've, we've seen some documented cases.

There's, there's Rudolph Fentz.

It was, happened to him in the early '50s in Chicago.

He showed up, uh, dressed in clothes of an earlier era with a handlebar mustache, a top hat, and he, carrying, um, uh, identification of, of a doctor with a phone number on the back with about three digits in the phone number.

Don, what happens if we wouldn't have left when we did? Could we have been stuck in that time?

It, it, it's possible.

It could be like Rudolph Fentz, but people usually will slip out again.

I think what's amazing about your story, Gary, and I remember when you first told it on the air, uh, at least the first time I heard it, is it's collaborated by you and, and your two sons.

The police investigated and found that the Fifth Avenue address was now a store, and that the present owners had no recollection of any livery stable or of a Rudolph fence.

The name could not be traced in any directory or list of residents, and no relatives called at New York morgue to claim a body of a dead man in 1950." Finally, an exhaustive search of archives found that the missing persons file of Florida in 1876 recorded a missing Rudolph Fentz.

Mrs. Fentz, 1876, had reported that she did not like her husband smoking in the house and that she sent him out for a walk during which he had mysteriously and inexplicably disappeared.

Her description of her husband's clothing tallied exactly with that of the man killed 74 years later in New York.
