So, um, she talks about mirrors, windows, and sliding glass doors.

So mirrors is the way that children see themselves.

If you listened to the final episode in season two of the Read Aloud Home podcast, you would have heard my interview with Amber O'Neill Johnston about Charlotte Mason Living Books and Rudine Sims Bishop's framework for thinking about books as mirrors, windows and sliding glass doors, which is an excellent episode and well worth a listen.

So today I wanted to talk about five books that are windows for my boys.

So windows in this framework refers to books that offer the person reading them a look at someone else's experience or way of life.

I agree.

Because, you know, we know, we've all read, we've all heard the speech, you know, read the article by Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop.

I like to mix her name up.

My maiden name is Bishop, so it really, like, throws me for a loop.
