What's that about?

The Rubber Duck Derby, I honestly don't know too much about, to be honest.

I wasn't around for that one.

I could fill you in on the Eats and Beats.

Grace Clinic jumped in with them in 2022.

And that's when we started giving away a Jeep as part of the big duck race that everyone participates in by adopting ducks.

And then the first place prize for the number one duck was a Jeep Wrangler.

Yeah, and correct me on this, was the Jeep Talk Show community member, was he the one that won the first Jeep in 2022? Yes,

And I thought, what in the world are they doing? And realized, oh, this is actually a thing.

And people started talking to us about it.

And we realized, oh, it makes a lot of sense to... partner uh this jeep world with this rubber date rubber duck race that had been going on for 10 years already

Riverview Center plans annual Duck Derby fundraiser.

Riverview Center will host its annual Duck Derby fundraiser next month in Galena.

Tickets are on sale now.

The 29th annual Duck Derby will take place at 3 p.m. October 11th at Grant Park Pedestrian Bridge on the Galena River during the final day of Galena Country Fair, according to a press release.

4,000 numbered rubber ducks will be dropped into the river for a race, and participants who have adopted the first four ducks to cross the finish line will win between $100 and $1,000.

Each duck costs $5 to adopt, and participants can adopt a flock of five ducks for $20.

Um, you know, and I, my son, we've, we've been there for years.

So like the corn stock maze, uh, you've got this kind of cool pumpkin jumping, uh, pillow, you got a duck Derby.

Um, what else here? Uh, animal land, you got a play yard.

I mean, there's really, there's really some pro and pig races.

Nope, there hasn't.

The Duck Derby's now behind us, and despite the rain, it was another successful year.

And we've also heard nothing but positive things about it.

And now the ducks can move over, because the scarecrows are moving in.

The United Cerebral Palsy Association of Hawaii's 37th Great Hawaiian Rubber Ducky Race is about to take place.

I have.

I wasn't there this year, but I've been there many times.

[upbeat music] Well, I can say after, uh, getting Carla's call about getting stuck in the mud at the Lumsden Duck Derby, there's a number of people texting in saying, "Come on, Carla.

That's not what the RCMP should be doing.

We're working.

Still working with Friends of the Rappahannock on the actual Duck Derby race.

And then we're working with Economic Development and Tourism with Danelle here and with Fredericksburg Main Street to kind of evolve the Duck Derby into its own larger festival, Quacktoberfest.

Did you come up with that name?

No, I don't think it was me.

Okay.

Anything else that we have missed? I think we've gotten all the main things.

The big thing coming up, the Duck Derby and the festival.

It's not as fun when it's rainy out in Lumsden, to be quite honest, for the parade and everything else.
