RS-485

Let's get a 485.

I said, I'm looking right at it on screen to get an RS-485 hat, and we can start playing with it.

And they just gave me the entire service manual for the – what's the service manual for that, uh, sign you were talking about? Um, it just gave me the entire service manual and, um, arching service manual and, um, the PSC solar message center operation and maintenance.

Oh, that's got it.

It's the opposite of the easy first project.

You'd be adding an RS-485 bus, a Modbus gateway, register mapping, all of it, just to turn a patio light on and off.

That's the kind of project you do because you want to learn Modbus, not because you want patio lights.

What about DMX?

There's a locomotion computer, and that's kind of the one that's locked down, that has cryptographically locked.

That's the one that sends out the commands to the actuators on the RS-485.

That computer basically handles the low-level stuff.

And then there's another computer, which is typically a Jetson Orin.
