Royal Quiet Deluxe

So do you have a favorite? I mean, is there one that you use all the time, especially as, as Poetry Fox?

Um, I've been using this Smith Corona a lot because it's been so reliable, and it's light, but I think my favorite typewriter is the Royal Quiet De Luxe-

... because it just, it just accepts a lot of punishment.

100%.

In fact, the gold-plated, like the Henry Dreyfuss model gold-plated QDLs, we call them Quiet Deluxe machines, those oftentimes the gold plating on those is worn down.

So you actually see where people were touching those, that the gold is really soft.

So it does wear off.

They decided, for example, I got a letter from the Fort Pitt typewriter company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that says, on the 100th anniversary of the San Francisco gold rush, prospectors, quote unquote, can enter a raffle, no purchase necessary, no essay to write.

And they were able to, you know, they could own this fully gold plated Dreyfus QDL that was sitting in the window for for all to see of that particular dealership, just like the KMM was not nine years ago, right? So they were building on this and it did cause a stir and people came in and not only did they enter to win this typewriter, but some people were now allowed to purchase the typewriter if they wanted to at a premium, of course.

And they could either, for example, just buy the standard QDL with the gold plating and the Quiet Deluxe badge on the paper table, or they could have something personal inscribed, maybe their name or a to, from kind of a gift thing, which I've seen.

And that machine really started the whole gold craze in earnings.
