He started writing like letters to the editor that they, you know, magazines.

And it was a, uh it was um sports of field like did in one of their letters to the editor thing had roy weatherby's like high velocity thing and that was that was the spark um was that sports of field article in the 40s in the early 40s that then people started saying wait a minute this is crazy can you rechamber my rifle and that's how it ended up happening at the beginning was he was rechambering people's rifles okay and that turned into making high-end exquisite stocks that turned into you know him coming out within his own calibers we have 16 weatherby magnum calibers today um you know 81 years later and then it was man we got to create a stronger action and so in the late 50s that's where our legendary mark 5 still our flagship product was designed in 1958 and so then he hired an engineer on but it was an uneducated poor farm kid from kansas 81 years ago and that's and i'm here today as third generation it's pretty cool no it's really

We have a ton of memorabilia.

A bison on basically a bison farm, right? It's more of a meat harvest than a hunt.

But Roy Weatherby was there.

And he had one of his fancy hot rod new cartridges.

These kill like lightning.
