My dad did many things there, but one of the main focuses he had was photography.

Worked for some really early, like Rough Guides, Lonely Planets, you know, like when you had a book before you went somewhere versus a blog or AI.

many years later, I was invited by Rough Guides to do their astronomy book.

And it was going to be a very general astronomy book about, you know, for people.

It was literally, we're going to do a tour of the solar system and then go out to the stars.

But then with travel stuff, it's obviously expensive to produce.

So it's difficult to like... unless you happen to have independent wealth or something it's quite difficult to then sort of set out and so for me the way i did it was i used to write guidebooks update guidebooks at first i was writing articles for rough guides the guidebook company and i wasn't really thinking of doing guidebooks and then eventually they just they asked if i what i was doing for the next couple of months because they had a guidebook update job in indonesia And I was about to quit my job and go traveling anyway.

So I just sort of took that opportunity and did it.

And then more of them followed after that.

that works as a nice segue into the next section we've spoken a lot about rough guides a significant amount and i want to really go into it even more in detail because i mean if you're making more than 30 guidebooks there's definitely a story and a half so like for all those different places those five places you've got to travel to all of them or some of them based in the uk
