Rosaria Butterfield

Today's guest has lived on both sides of one of the most divisive cultural debates in America.

Rosaria Butterfield spent years as a professor at Syracuse University, teaching women's studies and queer theory and working in LGBTQ activism.

Then she became a Christian and began rejecting many of the ideas she had once spent her career defending.

Rosaria, Troy, and I both went to Syracuse.

We're so excited.

We've got Rosaria Butterfield, Alisa Childers, Costi Hinn, so many more who are gonna be speaking, encouraging women.

There are a lot of self-esteem conferences out there for women.

This is not one of those.

Yeah, no, it's so good.

You know, somebody I interviewed years ago, Rosaria Butterfield, she was a lesbian.

She worked as a professor of English literature at Syracuse University.

Fabulous testimony.

Um, another one, I couldn't find the actual comment, but I thought it was a really good question.

Somebody had questions about Rosaria Butterfield's recent appearance on the Ali Bastaki podcast where she argued that you actually can't deconstruct the Christian faith or you can't deconstruct someone's faith because you can't deconstruct something that you didn't construct.

And they said, uh, there, there was confusion, like, "I don't know what to do with all this disagreement between people that I love and respect." Well, first of all, I would say I actually don't disagree with that, and I'll explain why in a moment.

But regarding disagreement, disagreement is okay.

Actually reminds me of another book.

I don't know if you've read, but I've read by Rosaria Butterfield called The Gospel Comes with a House Key.

Yes.

Um-

Yeah

... as I've heard it said by Rosaria Butterfield, against a holy God.

And so if you're living in sin, if you're living in cosmic treason against a holy God, it doesn't matter if you feel happy, and you're not a better person than somebody else because you're living in cosmic treason against a holy God.

And so it seems like there's even a misunderstanding of what sin is, but I'll throw it over to you.

She's such a sharp intellect.

Her name is Dr. Rosaria Butterfield, was a very outspoken lesbian, and she tells the story of of meeting for dinner with a pastor and his wife, evangelical pastor and his wife.

She knew where they stood.

They knew where she stood.
