Ron Richards

In the early 1960s, White was married to British Decca artist Lynn Cornell, who later became a member of the Carefrees, who had the biggest selling Beatles novelty single ever with We Love You Beatles.

In September 1962, White received a call from producer George Martin's assistant Ron Richards, asking him to attend a Beatles recording session at the MI Studios at Abbey Road in London.

Richards had already used White as a session drummer a few times and knew his style.

The Beatles had recorded Love Me Do twice already, at an EMI session on the 6th of June 1962 with Pete Best on drums when he was still a member of the group, and again on the 4th of September 1962, now with Ringo Starr on drums, having replaced Best the previous month.

But yeah, we came out with our first, well, we did a lot of 60s, late 50s songs that we recorded, like Searching, Stay, Just One Look, all those things.

until we were able to sort of get into writing songs together and getting them past our producer, Ron Richards, at that time, who said, yes, that's good enough.

And I think that was We're Through was our first single.

And then we became proper, you know, we started writing quite good songs, Carrie Anne, Jennifer Eccles, you know, all those sort of things.

This is going to be big for them in a way so much that it opened the door for everybody else.

and then we were there so we got chose you know we they wanted us to be a records companies beatles you know because we well we were on the same label to be quite honest but uh yeah yeah and we came out with our first well we did a lot of um 60s like late 50s songs that we recorded and they like searching a stay you know just one just one look all those things until we were able to sort of get into writing songs together and getting them past our producer, Ron Richards, at that time, who said, yes, that's good enough.

And I think that was We're Through was our first single.

And then we became proper, you know, we started writing quite good songs, Carrie Anne, Jennifer Eccles, you know, all those sort of things.

I think in a family that I've got, I've tried very hard to actually teach my children I think Graham wrote a song about that some time ago.

I teach my children, which I did actually say that phrase before Graham did, to a record producer, Ron Richards, who said one time, what would you do to change the world? And I said, I'll teach my children.

And that's exactly what I've been doing with my wife, Jenny.

We love our kids.

So is that what he was credited as? Was that what the credit was?

He came in as a session musician because Ron Richardson, our producer, knew of him.

And he was on here in Heavy.

I mean, no one ever thought any more of him being just a session musician.
