Al Tuck could be dismissed as a musician's musician, someone on the fing- fringes of the Canadian music scene, but his influence has been widespread and profound.

An artist whose tunes have gotten into the very soul of some of Canada's most acclaimed singers and writers: Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Ron Hynes, Gordon Lightfoot, Gord Downie, Neil Young.

Maybe there's room for one more in the pantheon, yes? Well, only time will tell.

I, I, you know what? I, I, I re- I, I recall when in my first interview with Ron Hynes, way, oh gosh, back in the, the late '90s, um, I remember kind of wondering, "Well, wh- why do, why don't you live in Nashville?" I might have asked him, or, you know, "Why don't you live in Toronto?" Whatever.

Which he did.

Ron, you know, there's a documentary about it that Ron went over, um, and talked to people in Ireland, and they were like, "No, you didn't write this." And, like, he 100% did, uh, but they had heard it so many times they thought it was part of the-
