you've uh i know you've been out all over the district um you know one of the things i think we didn't agree and i talked about it is turnout what are you hearing as you're traveling across the fourth district

yeah it really is important and you know the democrats are going to turn out i mean that's we saw that in the primaries this summer you know 40 of the democrats turned out in the primary only 30 of republicans did so we've got to make sure we get to turn out uh for for folks and Like I said, we were talking earlier about, you know, hatred's a bigger driver.

And so that's why it's getting to the Democrats out.

You know, in a lot of cases, people are thinking, well, we've got Republican majorities in the House and the Senate and at the presidency.

So, you know, we're comfortable.

But the problem is that only lasts until the next election.

And, you know, it's as President Reagan said, is that the, you know... uh democracy and freedom only last uh you know it's only one generation away from extension and so you have to make sure that you're you you actually get out to vote to actually keep these policies in place one of the things we've been doing and we talk about some of the stuff that we've done and accomplished is you know the borders closed now i mean you compare that to president biden and how open the borders were in the democrat using the exact same laws president trump and republicans closed the borders But what we've also done is we've passed 70 different executive orders into law so that now when and if a Democrat ever gets into the White House again, which I hope not, but when and if they ever do, they can't go back and write an executive order because it's the law now that they have to follow.

It's so important to look at, you know, how do we keep our innovation up? I mean, America has always been a leader in that.

And so one of the things that I've done for the last several years was be a lead and actually have the American Innovation and R&D Competitiveness Act, which was the foundation for us changing research and development, being able to be amortized over one year.

spread out over five years and has a huge cash flow impact on businesses and actually is able to make so much work accomplishable because you have the cash flow to pay for it.

A lot of times you get to thinking that, well, that's only something that would affect big businesses.

What do you see maybe on the near horizon that our members might be interested in hearing about?

I got to ask, what was the purpose and did Democrats actually get anything that they were trying to stop in this process?

Well, I mean, the bad part about this was that this was a gimmick that the Democrats have been pushing for the last 75 plus days to shut down the Department of Homeland Security.

And basically it stems back to President Biden opened the borders and made sure that there were all these illegal immigrants coming into the country.

President Trump closed the borders.

And the Democrats said, well, we're going to shut down Border Patrol.

We're going to shut down immigration enforcement.

And basically an attempt to reopen the borders and play in this game through this process.

Are you optimistic that we're going to get this done by the end of May if we have that funding up until June? And what else potentially could we see in that reconciliation bill?
