Ron Capps

And I was watching the NHRA out of Dallas yesterday.

And on Saturday, I think it was, Ron Capps' second or third qualifying run in the Napa Funny Car.

Oh, my God.

He had a blower.

Oh, yeah, he's one cool dude, that's for sure

... pe- people like him and other p- you know, Ron Capps, and other people, if, uh, that y- you say Bubba Army or to the SCAG team, they, uh, you know, they, they will certainly respond in a, in a favorable-type way.

Absolutely.

He sure did.

So I'd be happy if a Scag guy won, but I'm also always pulling for...

I like, I like Ron Capps, is my friend.

You know, Leah, Tony's wife, I'm pulling for her.

And then Hagan, Matt Hagan, Tony's Funny Car, I'm pulling for him.

I went to my first race at eight days old, but never did I believe I could ever be a professional race car driver, right? I mean, that just seemed so, so far-fetched.

[laughs] But here I am, living the absolute dream, uh, racing for Ron Capps Motorsports, Carlisle Tools, and Napa.

It's just been, it has been so amazing, and at our 10th race out, we got our first win, and it came in the most amazing way possible.

My dad won that same day, Ron Capps won, and our team won.

So it was like a double double or a triple, whatever you wanna call it.

It was-

... part of my career leading up to that point.

Um, you know, he mentored me in a lot of ways.

So St. Louis has held a lot of really special memories for us.

You're young, but when I would talk to Ron Capps, and we're going to get into Ron in a minute, but John Forrest, I've talked to a lot of drag racers, and they remind me, hey, in the day, St. Louis was badass for match races, and John Force will say, look, I slept down here at the truck stop, but it was down the snake versus McEwen.

Do you know, you're so young, do you know the history of the match races in St. Louis?

I have to say, I cannot recite to you the match races that went on.

Okay, everybody, once again, talking to NHRA's newest superstar.

And, boy, she's getting it done.

Driving for Ron Capps, Top Fuel, NHRA.

Now, listen, tell me if this is right.

The Power 100 is featured in the magazine's September-October State of Drag issue.
