games? No, not really.

I kind of just, like, I love RP.

Right.

Massive on RP.

Which is role-playing.

Yes, which means I can just create my own world and do stuff.

Our back catalogue is a lot of World of Darkness stuff, but we've branched out away from that more recently over the last few years, just because, you know, there's only so much you can say about vampires.

Well, we have a show here on our channel called Lurebeards and Roleplaying, and one of these days we need to bring you on to talk about horror gaming, because I think that's a lot of fun to discuss.

Yeah.

But today's topic is not role-playing games.

And I'd done lots and lots of role-playing stuff, but I wanted to see what... doing a proper original novel we like, and wrote that, and managed to get it sold to Orbit, and just started off that series.

And there have been another two in that series, and then another trilogy, and then another book after that.

So it's sticking along as a sort of parallel thing to Roleplaying.

And it was just followed by your second trilogy, The Lands of the Firstborn.

which is sort of a spiritual successor? Is it in the same universe? No,

So when I did everything, I worked in a warehouse, I worked in an auction room, I did all sorts of jobs.

And a friend of a friend said, oh, there's some role play work going.

This is for a company that was looking to recruitment drive and they wanted people to come in and be the candidate so that they could assess them or play a part that they could then perform part of their assessment.

And I thought that sounds like fun.

You know, it's so interesting is in my personal business, and I do corporate training and development as well.

It's hosting on principal podcasts.

I do a lot of role plays.

I teach sales skills and management skills and put them through simulation.

And she talks about, there's the, of course, like, the traditional, like, I'm Batman, you're Robin kinda play.

I think that's part of like the change loadout thing or whatever.

Um, but yeah I think there's more of a need for it on top of it's like you're going into RP and it's like what's one of the biggest like more RP-esque things or something people like to do in MMO and that's own homes in those games they like to the progression of like I had this cheap home that was 100k I went to the 300k and now I have the million dollar home and like I want to own all those homes I don't want to lose any of the homes I want to keep like like I think that is very much in tune with what they have as well or seem to be doing with the rest of the game too

The reason I finished Red Dead, not that I don't think it's an amazing game, because I do, and I think it is great, but the reason I was on that game so much is because I wanted to keep putting money in that camp.

And the thing that upset me the most was it didn't really matter how much money I put in the camp, nothing really changed.

I even hear rumors that the so-called mail-stealing hobo is none other than French Stewart.

Everyone in Madrid is more than meets the eye, like those Saturday morning cartoons, the, the boats that turn into vacuums, I think, which is why I'm here to talk about role play.

Now, I am no stranger to adaptation.

Whether my date wants Josephine Bonaparte, Josephine Baker, or Grandma Josephine Bucket, just give me five minutes in a thrift store, three minutes in a produce section, and a few days to not wash.

Yesterday, I was going out to get my mail, and it was when the, the mail carrier came, and the mail carrier is like, you know, "You need to collect your mail more." And I said, "Hold on, 'cause I'm feeling very hurt right now, so I'd like you to be me, and I will be you, the mail carrier" And that did not go well.

So when you role play, you're trying to, to involve everyone else around you.

Well, I mean, that's the pur-- Like, I feel like right now you are not understanding where I'm coming from, so maybe right now you and I could just do...
