Role Model

I think it's hard.

It's so hard, isn't it, to compare all the books when you're up against heated rivalry, the long game, and my favourite is Role Model.

So, you know, when you're up against those three, it's quite hard to, like, look at the other books.

Yeah, I think there is a difference in this one, but we'll get into it properly.

So for me, if I were to rank them, it's on par with Tough Guy for me.

So it's not like neither of them are my least favorite books, but they're not my favorite books.

As I mentioned, Role Model is like the best book for me in that series.

So,

all right you still live there when you read these

yeah yeah so i was like i just weeping um you also should get you should also get because you read game changers you read heated rivalry yeah you should get role model as well role models really yes that's

that's the new the two guys that just got cast right

don't don't fucking play with me about troy barrett that's my baby no oh

Yes.

I was running in circles.

and then and mind you the only people left at the theater by this point are like me me and Marshall because we had to be like last ones out so me and Marshall Sammy was also there because I was driving her home and then like our director and I don't think anyone else was there um so I'm running in circles and then Marshall walked into the fuzzy and he was like I can't and just like kept walking and like didn't question it and I'm like boom boom boom boom yep I was so excited yep so yeah i'm so yeah you should here's my here's my suggestion and this might be controversial i don't know um i would read even though role model technically takes place i don't know Because I read the long game and then I read role model.

Even the role model happens chronologically before the long game happens.

And I'm Robert.

And today we are diving into chapters six and seven of Role Model, Robert.

Robert's favorite chapters.

I can't even tell you not to do the hands because we told you you would have chapter six, seven.

everyone's just a person doing their job you know

like even if that job is a really cool job and even if they're very good at that job

they're still hey you know what harris drover's job is to try to make troy barrett who everyone thinks is a massive fucking dickhead looks like a role model

yep

Yeah, so a thing we do want to highlight is just the fact that this fic, because it is canon divergence, means there's a lot of things from canon in here.

And if you are particular about spoilers for pretty much all of the books, based off of Tough Guy, Common Goal, Role Model, long game this is not the fic for you because uh there there'll be spoilers lots of spoilers um and i mean like not a lot of the things in the fic too are like not from the books but every so often you know i could see like a line pulled from the book used in a different context or or a scene

yeah or

like the relationships and how like the relationships grow and all that shit

Yeah.

Yeah.

And obviously the same events that happened in Role Model happened here.

Troy spoke out about Dallas Kent and they shipped him off.

And today we're diving into chapters

three and four of Role Model.

Why are you doing the six, seven hands,

Robert?

Three and four are just half of six and seven.

So it's like- No, Robert, I promise you

we will do Role Model six, seven.

Oh, good, good, good,

No, according to the Marie Claire breakdown, season two isn't just about Ilya and Shane.

It's actively weaving in Role Model, which is book five.

Yes.

And Tough Guy, which is book three.

So let's look at the narrative logistics of this vastly populated ice rink.

Let's do it.

In Role Model, you have Troy.

He's a hockey star who has just gone through a very public breakup and a major PR scandal.

And that's it.

Just kidding! It's time for the Tandem Read! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo! And that Tandem Read starts with? Chapters 1 and 2 of Role Model.

Woo! Y'all, okay, before we start talking, these are your spoiler warnings, you chuckle pucks.

Yeah,

It's not.

Okay.

Also, just in case you haven't read Role Model, trigger warning for sexual assault going forward.

But also if you haven't read Role Model, please do that because I like it anyway.
