Roland Juno-60

This is like Murderbot.

He's this like, I have Roland Juno 60.

It's this vintage synth.

And I was like, this is perfect for this robot.

What was the first synth?

My first synth was a Roland Juno 60.

There you go.

It was a Juno 6 because you couldn't store the sounds.

Excuse me a minute.

It is a bit.

But, well, the Juno 60 only had about six memories.

Yeah.

Um, and I think that was...

Oh, and then synth-wise, um, Oberheim, I have an Ober- Oberheim OB-X, and a Prophet 5, and a Juno 60, and a Minimoog, and those things probably got the most use of any of the synths, um, on the record.

Yeah.

And yeah.

I think tech is such now where we've got our lithium ion batteries and everything and there's some really great gear that you can take in anywhere and no longer do you have to be you know stuck in you know your i know it's like the

portability of it is amazing right yeah yeah i mean just just just because you mentioned it i had a juno 60 that was um one of the first midified it had a separate box for many

yeah yeah

and um and then the other thing like the other brands i would buy is like in sonic at the time um there was an sq80 workstation and uh So it was all from the 80s and 90s.

One element that truly sets Idol apart from other punk figures is his willingness to embrace electronic textures early in his career.

The use of an Akai S1000 sampler combined with Roland Juno 60 synths on White Wedding was groundbreaking because it fused gritty guitars with digital soundscapes.

The production team at Chrysalis purposely chose the S1000 for its capability to reproduce a variety of percussive and atmospheric sounds that could not be achieved via analog gear alone.

This decision, in hindsight, helped define an 80s sound that blended punk energy with a futuristic sheen that other artists like The Clash would later emulate.

The synthesizers that they're using, there are two synthesizers that I want to talk about really quick.

The first one being the Roland Juno 60.

That's like all the leads, but the star of the show for me being a bassist is the Roland SH-101 analog synth.

and that's that that bass sound and it just sounds so chunky and warm and and i love that and and that that really makes the song for me um because that that that synth doesn't sound like some of your 80 cents that are you know kind of too sweet or or maybe too artificial that that sound came around later, the Roland SH-101 in house music, and then again in the early 2000s.
