Rogerian argument

Yeah.

So, I mean, this is, again, this is part of why Rogerian rhetoric is so valuable because We don't really have a good idea of anybody that we meet only online.

There are people that I've got relationships with online who I feel like I know well, but I don't.

I just don't because all I've seen is what they've chosen to show me.

It's a very good way of putting it, yeah.

There's a concept called Rogerian rhetoric, which is how I try to approach any kind of discussion.

which is instead of trying to convince that person that they're wrong, what I try to do is I try to understand that person's belief system as well as I can.

So I don't necessarily deny or defy anything that they say.

And someone asked in a Q&A a couple of weeks ago about how I... remain at least partially impartial when it comes to speaking to people.

And for me, the question asking, I called it the Socratic method, but you've just called it, what was that one?

Rogerian rhetoric.

It's different from the Socratic method because the Socratic method is an attempt to win an argument.

So I took a, a Skinnerian operative conditioning approach, tokenized goodness, what I thought goodness is.

And I took a Rogerian client centered therapy, empathetic listening, et cetera, and made her like my grandmother.

Right.

So she cares about me.

And then you go down through and you put humanistic psychology on the top.

A Rogerian Carl Rogers approach.

What you do is you say unconditional love.

It loves you no matter what.

It's a very good way of putting it, yeah.
