There was a few girls.

I watched best friends fall out over the only girl in the room, you know, it was a very weird university to be at but it's all made me a bit driven because it was a town i think if i went to university in a city i just never would have got anything done i would have just been drinking every night which yes or was but not in the capacity of being a city where there's endless things to do but anyway um i started getting interest so i studied um music technology did a bsc honors in music technology and that's basically working in a recording studio so that's setting up all the mics working out how acoustics work uh learning what mixing mastering is learning what different desks are that's what i did and it was almost a bit like i don't know what to do i'm going to do this because i play guitar anyway you know but um i joined the students union uh i worked at the bar in the kitchen uh and then after a while um because we had loads of events in the live room so we had like a nightclub sort of live venue which we had like bands on and djs and stuff and then we the next door like literally a wall adjacent from it we had like a lounge where people could go and chill and eat and you know just have like you know uh meet up for like you know either university work or you know whatever really um and that was cool uh so in the live venue uh there was a couple of guys who did the lighting and the sound and i thought yeah i'd like to give um like live sound a go because it's completely different than you know spending hours in a recording studio you have to like literally do it there and then you have to make the kick you know at a certain frequency a certain level then you know with a using like compressors and stuff like that so i wanted to learn how to do that like on a live setting uh and then um that work wasn't as fruitful like during that time so i i learned how to use the lighting desk and all the lights in the venue And my girlfriend at the time, who was in the industry, like in the live industry, she was touring with Roger Waters at the time.

So she taught me how to use the desk and how to use the lights and what DMX addresses are and what cables you use and what power they need.

I think it was that moment my friend asked me if I wanted to go on Robot Wars.

And it was also the inspiration from the partner I had at the time.

Because I went to go see her on Simply Red, Roger Waters and One Direction, the shows that she worked on.

Because she was basically the video playback girl.

I'm not gonna talk about.

But the, the greatest I've bought was probably Dark Side of the Moon, and I love it because, you know, I've gone back to it so many times to listen to it, and then Roger Waters decided to redo it and do it on Cooking Vinyl, which was a pinch me, I can't believe I'm, you know, awake moment.

And then, weirdly enough, I had to have a co- colonoscopy.

And I went to the hospital, and they gave me the drugs, and I was a bit high, ready for it, and ready for the pain, and they said, "What do you wanna listen to?" And I said, "Dark Side of"...

In a final twist of fate, an unrecognizable, shaved-headed Barrett unexpectedly walked into Abbey Road Studios, During the final mixing sessions for the multi-part epic Shine On You Crazy Diamond, a jarring event that deeply shook the band members and underscored the album's themes of lost innocence and missing connection.

Musically, the record just deposes David Gilmour's soul-stirring guitar work and Richard Wright's atmospheric synthesizers against Roger Waters' razor-sharp lyricism.

Beyond the personal grief that the band felt at the time for Sid Barrett, the album delivered a very biting cynical critique of the corporate music industry.

Songs like Welcome to the Machine and Have a Cigar skewered record executives for treating art like commercial meat, captured perfectly by the guest-sung line, quote, Oh, by the way, which one's pink? End quote.

And they asked him about Sammy's [laughs] book and he says, "I haven't read it, I won't read it, and he's just, he's an idiot." [laughs] So I was like [laughs]...

Uh, which I thought was like, y- you know, the, the, we're now we're starting to kind of tread into, at this age, we're treading into like Roger Waters, David Gilmour.

We're treading into like these feuds of people who I'm like, "No offense, guys, but you've guys' probably, unless you're Keith Richards, you got like five years.

Seven to 10 maybe." But-
