Probably the horse that's really uh surprised given his two-year-olds was his bayside boy he's the son of new bay of course this great dubawi line is just absolutely dominating everywhere now bayside boy was a a group one place two year old a group two winning uh two-year-old of a group two uh winning two-year-old for for tam valley for roger varian He of course then trained on to win a Queen Elizabeth stakes as a three year old over a mile.
B
13:55Bruce SladeHOST
So this is a horse that at a typical, you know, top two year old, better three-year-old, group vomiting three-year-old, and you'd expect his progeny to just improve as they mature.
B
14:09Bruce SladeHOST
He does stand at Ballylin Stud alongside Lope de Vega, so he has had that benefit of their support, and you expect this young horse who's getting his stakes when he's getting some really nice horses that have won already.
B
18:25Bruce SladeHOST
Probably the horse that's really surprised, given his two-year-olds, was his Bayside Boy.
B
18:32Bruce SladeHOST
He's the son of New Bay, of course, this great Dubawi line that's just absolutely dominating everywhere now.
B
18:37Bruce SladeHOST
Bayside Boy was a Group 1 placed two-year-old, a Group 2 winning two-year-old of Autem Valley for Roger Varian.
B

He, of course, then trained on to win a Queen Elizabeth stakes as a three-year-old over a mile.

horses and handicaps wet chad now he won at the festival last year but he hasn't added to that nursery win last year he's three to one uh six to one for langstone for clive cox and hector crouch eight to one toby moore whose dad ryan will be busy at the cura well he will ride military code for godolphin at eight to one and nine to one line of mali back to you rory for the seven furlong handicap
R
30:33Rory DelargyPANELIST
very similar sort of analysis here um which ad hasn't quite got home over a mile in his last two starts in very good handicaps the britannia at royal ascot um and then a good mile handicap at the um uh at the july meeting at new market again both times he's he's um threatened with a furlong to go and hasn't quite got there he's behind moonfall in the britannia um There was always a very good race to Britannia, but you know, the horses who finish at the top there are usually bordering group class.
R
31:30Rory DelargyPANELIST
He was a winner of this meeting last year of a nursery and won it in good style on good grind and went on to run well on heavy grind at his next start.
R
31:37Rory DelargyPANELIST
So I think getting away from very quick grind and getting back to seven furlongs are the keys to Wet Shard.
R
31:43Rory DelargyPANELIST
Roger Varian, his horses are running very, very well at the moment.
R

probably better than the results suggest.

Well, if you were with us last week, you'll have heard Roger Varian talking up the chances of Sadat in the Grosserpreis von Baden at the weekend.

But an enterprising piece of placing, as it was from Roger Varian to win the Group 1 Grosser Price von Baden with Sadad.
N

That was another first.

There was another book one bonus winner yesterday that went the way of Miss Miniver who won what looked a pretty competitive Phillies maiden that was on her second start and she looks to have a very bright future for Roger Varian and the Godolphin team.

point out, William Haggis loves this race, right? He's won it four times in the last five years.
A
31:20Andy NewtonPANELIST
including last year and it's a bit of a leap of faith because it's first time in a handicap but he runs um ancestor here kieran fallon rides won its last two should have more to come it's probably one of the least exposed or if not the least exposed in the field when you know just drilling down and actually the form if you go back to its yarmouth win two runs ago when it beat waterford castle that's been franked all over the shop as well you know that horse is one that Kobatsu I think it's called that Roger Varian horse that we talked about last weekend that won last Saturday the fifth has come out and won in that Yarmouth race as well a horse called Hollywood Stream so there's loads to go on there and the fact that Haggis loves this race 6-1 over Hazou who should be the most likely winner looks of value here for me

There's a few at the top of the market you have to respect, and the boys have covered them all well.
A
35:18Andy NewtonPANELIST
Hasn't run on anything this soft and hasn't come to second on Good to Soft so but the action and the way he's all plugged on at Donny you just think that Haydock's going to suit and the ground will suit so so yeah you've got Mythical Bay here as well Baldy's won a couple of times in the last ten years that just didn't settle last time at York that was ninth in the same race that he ran in There's a bit of a weight poor, I think something like five pounds between those two.
A
35:43Andy NewtonPANELIST
So I wouldn't be surprised to see Mythical Bay overturn that form with the Burt course at the top of the market.
A
35:49Andy NewtonPANELIST
But I think Reamrack at 11 at two, Roger Varian horses are still going great guns, eight stone seven.

galilean quality and and and then i'm like oh well william buick's riding asia force um so maybe that's a positive or a negative i don't know um as you can see i went round and round in circles on the race and didn't really come down um on a conclusion but i will have to tip something because um i'll be rating this race for racing post ratings um this week so um we shall see what i come up with ream rack was was was the one um caught my eye last time at um new market it was a real bunch finish and I thought he was a bit better than the bear form that day and again Roger Varian's got quite a good record when he sends horses up to hay dock and he's very good in these sorts of staying races in general particularly for three-year-olds so it may be that that So that ends up where the pin drops.
