Roger Kahn

There have been so many books written about baseball.

It's probably the sport that lends itself best somehow, some way to the best writing from Arthur Wellesley, Red Smith to Grantland Rice to Donald Hall and Thomas Boswell and the non-peril in Roger Angel, Roger Kahn.

But Luke Salisbury wrote a slim little book called The Answer is Baseball in which he kind of puts together trivia questions that tie the game together.

I like the book a lot, but I remember I don't have the book in front of me.

Hmm.

"The boys of summer is a retrospective nickname for the Brooklyn Dodgers, uh, stemming from a book by Roger Kahn published in nineteen seventy-two.

While the title did indeed come from the poem by Dylan Thomas, the book looks at the Brooklyn Dodgers team from the forties through their nineteen fifty-five World Series win.

There may be some allusion to the end of the baseball season, in addition to the romantic relationships mentioned in the song." Um-

It was very similar those years that Preacher was with the Brooklyn Dodgers from 48 to 54.

I mean, they were just a tight, cohesive team.

And I think Roger Kahn probably painted that pretty well.
