Rodney-O & Joe Cooley

It's interesting.

Also, I spoke with Rodney O.

Do you know Rodney O and Joe Cooley? They were the producers of that second album who gave him his new style.

I asked, were they worried about their reputation if they were working with Vanilla Ice? Here's what he said.

I felt like people would probably, you know, thrill us for doing it.

He did.

You had mentioned several times about the mistakes that Vanilla Ice made with his career.

I liked what Rodney O said about that.

Uh, caught you coming out your favorite club.

Sorry, Rodney O fucking pumps.

Wow.

[laughs]

This is the fucking best Alchemist beat of his life, and they're like, [tsking] "Uh, no, no. Didn't make the cut."

No.

"But let's put Rodney O and Joe Cooley 39 or wherever the fuck it was." Like-

Jesus Christ

You have to gr- sit down and grind.

Like when I get off work, I go home and turn, turn the system on and just, you know, whatever, whatever I saw, Uncle Jamm's Army, Roger, uh, Tro- Roger, Roger Cla- Clayton, and Egyptian Lover, uh, whatever those guys, uh, and Joe Cooley, whatever those guys were doing, like, I gotta learn it.

I gotta stay competitive, you know? Uh, I had to keep my name up, so whatever those guys was doing, you know, I had to learn it.

So you just buckle down and, and, and, and, and do it, you know? 'Cause back then in Los Angeles when it came to, to, to, to DJing, Uncle Jamm's Army was like, you know, boom.
