Rodney Eade

Terry Wallace was contracted for the Bulldogs for a couple of years, but there have been a lot of rumours.

So Sydney... had offered him the job in Sydney when Rodney Heath finished.

And so they offered him the job.

And so Terry went to the club the week before the last game and said, oh, look, I'm not going to say out my contract.

And certainly when a career comes to a close, it can really reshape what life looks like and what life will look like into the future.

And so joining me today for this conversation is Dad's group manager at the Fathering Project, who many will know as Rodney Eade, who's himself had a very famous career in football, AFL football down in Melbourne as both a coach and a player.

And so he'll certainly have some insights in terms of the transitions that people can go through in life and careers changes.

But our guest that we'll be speaking with today is Tom McDonald, who has recently called time on his incredible career with the Melbourne Football Club.

No, okay

The only other team I met, and this would've been a week or two later, I had a lot of interest from the Gold Coast, so Rodney Eade flew to Sydney, met with him.

So they were the two main teams.

Where, where did you meet with Rodney Eade?

At my manager's house also.

Yeah, right

...

Rodney Eade took over and they're in their first grand final since 1945.

So no regrets.

Yeah.

How are

you? What picture comes with it? Rodney Eade actually named one of his players that nickname.

Oh, no.

And I hated it.

Could be, yeah.

I remember having, I remember having that chat with Rodney Eade actually, and then he decided to...

And, and I think it was the right decision at the time because he still had coaching in his heart to go coach Gold Coast.

But he had the perfect role at Collingwood at that particular-

There were VFL stars from each team in attendance.

Robert Flower, Trevor Barker, Tim Watson, Mark Williams, Rodney Eade, Ross Glendenning, Dale Weightman, Simon Beasley, David Rhys Jones.

Also special guests Kevin Bartlett, Barry Michael, Sam Edmond.

Then we get to Prisoner stars, Paula Duncan and Gwendoline Scott, and Flying Doctors stars-
