Uh, I was in the Caribbean, uh-

Star Trek was, of course, created by Gene Roddenberry, I wish I had met him, I never did, uh, who brought the concept to Desilu Productions, the Hollywood studio run by Lucille Ball, you know, from I Love Lucy, back in 1964.

Desilu, uh, Desilu produced the pilot, and then with Lucille's backing, helped get the series on air.

Mega congrats to CBS, who is carrying the legacy forward, and to my dear friend Rod Roddenberry, the son of Gene Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek, and Rod's gonna be at Moonshots Live.

And to celebrate this anniversary, I've asked all of the mates to pick their favorite original series episode.

When she was on here, we did the, uh, Star Trek versus Star Wars, the philosophy of Star Trek versus Star Wars.

We did it here on the show, and she said that Rod Roddenberry remembers this, um, uh, sh- describing the two, Star Trek and Star Wars.

She's, she always, she said that Star Wars lets you forget, you know, our troubles of the world, the real world.

It, it, it's a galaxy far, far away.

Uh, again, I've never shared this before, but now you all know how I, how this, how Star Trek, uh, came into my life, when and how, through McDonald's [laughs] of all, of all things.

So to kick off the, um, Star Trek 60 celebration episode, I, I, as you all know, though you longtime listeners you know, you remember Rod Roddenbe- I've always said David Glanzer from Comic-Con, he was our first guest ever, and he's a friend, you know, all 16 years later, he's still a good friend.

Um, Rod Roddenberry was actually our second guest, and he's been a friend ever since then.

He always comes to say hi when we see each other at conventions or Comic-Con or anywhere, or he'll email sometimes.

When we're recording that, when it goes out, they will be listening because remember who one of my friends is.

He was actually on this episode earlier, Rod Roddenberry, Gene Roddenberry's son.

He's been a friend since the very first one, and now he actually is part of Star Trek because he's one of the executive producers on Strange New Worlds and everything that comes out of Star Trek.

So it hasn't been confirmed yet.

The question in the WonderCon panel was, is Star Trek too woke? I wasn't on the panel, but one of the panelists was, sorry, Mark, Tony Kim from Hero Within, the shop with the Star Trek clothes.

If you don't know the story, we might bring it up in a little bit.

But he was on that, and he asked me off the air one time and said, hey, Actually, Rod Roddenberry, he also asked me off the air, do you think Star Trek is too woke? And I said, hell yes.

There is such a thing as too woke.

So that one is really well done.

I do think something that should be mentioned – Because it's pretty neat, pretty cool, and I've seen this on social media a little bit the last week or so, and that is that Gene Roddenberry Jr., or Rod Roddenberry as he goes by, has been helping or has been a part of Hollywood's honoring of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry by restoring his Hollywood Walk of Fame star plaque.

which was, I believe, done in 1985 is when he got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Well, his star, I think, had cracked and there was some damage to it and stuff.
